International Tax Manager

Our client is a very international company, active in the information technology sector. Based in The Hague, Netherlands, it has about 200 FTE personnel of which more than half work in The Hague. Currently, the tax department exists of one experienced senior tax manager, who is looking for a new colleague because of the heavy workload. Consequently, the current senior tax manager will be able to grow into a Tax Director role, meaning this international position will become the new senior tax manager (expected on short notice).

With over 75% non-Dutch employees and a direct contact with various sales and accounting colleagues all over the world, this position can be called very international indeed.

Responsibilities and Activities
Responsibilities:
Working in a truly international and global environment your role will cover a variety of international tax matters with a focus on corporate tax, transfer pricing, withholding tax and VAT (mainly non-European VAT).

Your main duties are:

  • working with and for the Senior Tax Manager (also based in The Hague), Legal, tax Authorities and internal accountants;
  • Working and liaising with outside foreign tax counsel in EMEA countries;
  • Assist with providing tax input for Sales Team on various foreign jurisdictions (LATAM, Africa and Asia-Pacific);
  • Focus on corporate income tax, withholding tax, tax accounting, transfer pricing, cash pooling, cash management;
  • Liaise with the various departments in the operating companies and finance companies on tax accounting and statutory tax reporting issues;
  • Monitor and renew APA/ATR with the Dutch tax Authorities;
  • Advise on Dutch Tax consequences of any restructuring or business change;
  • Monitor and assist with compliance of Netherlands direct taxes and handle local and foreign tax audits;
  • Identify risks, carry out reviews and look for opportunities to improve business flows, standardize processes and guarantee compliance;
  • Being a strong business partner and support/inform local board of directors.

Personal Profile
You should be graduated (Master degree) in Tax Law or Tax Economics and have at least 5 years' experience working in an international tax role, ideally within a multinational company or international tax law firm.

Also you have/ you are:

  • Good Dutch and International tax technical skills (experience with the US tax system would be an advantage, but is not essential);
  • Fluent in English;
  • Having some experience with transfer pricing would be highly regarded;
  • Good English communications skills;
  • Open to different cultures;
  • Open to travelling;
  • Able to work both in a team as on your own on international matters;
  • Strong as a business partner and hands on mentality.
