Tax Analyst
Client
Our client is a large multinational chemical company,
with its headquarters in the USA. Here, in Rotterdam lies the
international head office.
Currently, the client is looking for a Tax
Analyst. This position will be responsible for
assisting in coordinating the tax technology initiatives for the
department under the direction of the Senior Manager, Tax Process
and Technology. This includes assisting in the ongoing development
of the tax technology strategic plan, operating plan, and project
management tools. Responsibilities also include interfacing with
leadership, internal & external customers, Information
Management, and other key stakeholders within the company. If you

Responsibilities and Activities
- Create and provide software training to non-U.S. and U.S. staff as needed; also includes creating training documentation for new staff and experienced staff.
- During year-end and quarter-end processes will need to be available during extended hours to provide technology support to team.
- Serve as administrator for tax software which involves:
- Maintenance of users and licenses within software;
- Working with other departments to extract source data for tax systems;
- Importing data into tax systems;
- Conducting tie-outs of data to ensure system is ready for use by tax team;
- Providing technology support to team and resolving issues quicklyBacking up system data, as needed;
- Preparing systems for each new quarter or year, as needed;
- Conducting system conversions, upgrades and updates;
- Communicating any system downtimes to staff in a timely fashion.
- Develop documentation for processes and procedures used in the tax technology group.
- Assist with the preparation of responses to various jurisdictional tax audits and notices which may or may not be limited to extracting data from source systems.
- Work with staff and managers to develop technology goals and objectives.
- Participate in special Projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with teams to identify areas for process improvement or new technologies needed.
- When new technologies are needed, assist teams with software selection, schedule software demonstrations with vendor, meet with IT to coordinate deployment timeline, conduct software testing, and communicate Go-Live date to Tax team.
Personal Profile
- Possesses a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Management Information Systems, or Computer Information Systems with five or more years' experience in a large corporate information technology department, tax technology environment or big 4/large market accounting firm. CPA, PMP, Six Sigma or relevant IT certification - highly preferred.
- Enjoys working with other tax and operations professionals in a flexible collaborative environment.
- Demonstrated skills in working with teams, project management
and improvement projects:
- being a good teacher to conduct technology training sessions for staff;
- able to adapt and work with people with different styles and personalities;
- able to identify and capture process improvement opportunities.
- must possess solid communication skills to effectively
communicate with internal and external customers.
- Ablity to perform technology research to stay current on software updates and changes and also interface with IT to communicate support needed and resolve issues quickly.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task assignments from various subgroups within the Tax department.
- Self-motivated; takes initiative; identifies and addresses
issues; works efficiently with attention to detail.
- Tax and ERP software such as OneSource Tax Provision, OneSource Income Tax, HFM and SAP (specifically, financial modules of SAP); extensive experience and knowledge of SAP is preferred;
- Microsoft Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint (VBA a plus); advanced Excel skills are desired, along with ability to create macros and experience with complex formulas;
- Developing forms and portfolios within Adobe Acrobat (ability to create actions within Acrobat is a plus);
- Database experience preferred (Microsoft Access, SQL) and experience with manipulating and completing calculations on large amounts of data;
- Data warehousing, process improvements, data blending and data analytics;
- Project management or Six Sigma skills to facilitate excellent execution in tax projects and initiate process improvements;
- Excellent verbal, written, communication, decision making, and critical thinking skills;
- Supporting tax team with a common goal of success;
- Aptitude to learn technologies being introduced or developed within the company including software products such as Microsoft Business Intelligence software (PowerPivot, PowerQuery, etc.).
- Project Management Skills - Including documenting processes, recognizing process enhancement opportunities, and an aptitude for accounting systems based processes.
- Analytical Skills - Including the ability to identify and appropriately elevate issues and concerns.
- Communication skills - Effective writing , listening, and presentation skills.
- Teaming Skills - Including working in teams and building trust and commitment throughout the organization.
- Time Management - Managing priorities, delivering on-time, and keeping the first things first.
